I remember Leo McKern had a breakdown after 'Once Upon Time' - considering Patrick Cargill's performance in his role as Number 2, did he suffer the same thing or was it just good acting?

I remember him in my childhood as a gestapo officer in wartime France, trying to capture resistance workers, dressed in trilby and black leather raincoat as was his side kick (This person I only ever saw in one other role that I can remember as a heavy in the Oliver Reed film 'I'll Never forget Whatshisname?').

I remember he was very good in either villainous or light humorous roles.

Was there a Spanish connection does anyone know? He looked swarthy and did play such roles but I wondered if Cargill was Spanish in origin or if he had a Spanish mother?

Not sure on that one, I put it down to good acting.
