Saw the end, NO SPOILERS, JUST A COMMENT 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I loved it. Payed homage, took the series seriously, added relevance to today, and all in all I'm glad I saw it. Try not to be too rigid you older fans. Hopefully this directs a bunch of new fans towards the original. I'm glad I took the time to see this. I'm going to have fun making my kids watch this, and try and answer their questions.

Be seeing you.

I had to chuckle to myself when I saw the ending. As much as I loved the first one, this one did ok.
I do think they tried to make it too confusing. Not sure if it was on purpose or if they just screwed up.

Yeah, I agree with the too confusing bit, perhaps it could have used a few more episodes. Just to get to know the characters better, flesh it out a bit. I guess thats why they extended the original. I don't know if they thought we enough attention span left in this day and age.

I find myself agreeing whole-heartedly with Karma.Yes, there were the homages to the original, and I also found this one confusing as well.A few more episodes would have worked better, Too much plot development in each individual chapter made the story too 'choppy' and hard to follow.
This is going to take a few days to think about and digest. It looks like it will be re-broadcast this coming weekend, so I'll watch it again to see if it all makes better sense then. I'm still not sure if it should have stayed closer to the original plot-line or not( let's face it... as a Producer, Patrick McGoohan was a genius. I wonder what HE would have said about this re-make?). Yet, it's not always a good idea to adhere too closely to the past,"Time Marches On" and all that rot. Lol.
At least this one gave us better closure,,,I think.
Be seeing you.

It's hard to comment without spoiling, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the final 2 episodes...

The dialog seemed to really beat you over the head with the direction the ending would go..

Nevertheless, I liked the overall effort of the series. Grats to AMC for having the balls to tackle one of the best forms of entertainment that television has ever produced.

I really wanted to like this, and argued with all my co-workers who tried to talk me out of watching this new one to give it a chance. That said, I just finished watching the last episode and I must say it WAS disappointing! I always felt that the old show could be confusing because there was so much to digest, and because McGoohan was trying to express some pretty complex ideas. With this new one, there were alot of the trappings of the original, "Be seing you" and what not, but none of the substance. I felt like all the references to the old show is just a failed attempt to appease fans of the original show. I wish they had just done something new inspired by "The Prisoner" but not "The Prisoner", lord knows the topics are even more relevant in our insane post 9/11 world where we are actually arguing whether it's OK to torture people. AMC is showing that they have some integrity with shows like "Mad Men", but unlike "Mad Men" this just isn't really taking enough risks. It follows what is becoming a pretty recognizable yet insidious marketing formula: take a property with a cult following and "reimagine" it, it can work with something like Battlestar or the Brady Bunch because these were shows we watched as children. People fall in love with "The Prisoner" as adults, you experience it with your head not your heart, the ideas are more important than the "world of the Village". So the formula doesn't really work because you can't rely on emotional tricks like a well placed catchphrase that sends the fans into a frenzy.

Nice try AMC but next time maybe you can have the courage to spend all that money on developing something as new and fresh as the original series must have been in 1967. It's worked out with "Mad Men", so have a little faith in imagination instead of re-imaginiation.
