There were rumours about McGoohan making an appearance in the new series. Sadly he didn't live to see it come out (or perhaps, fortunately?) In any case, the old man (#93) was not McGoohan.

However, 93's apartment was 6's. If not an exact replica, there is enough about 93's apartment that it's clearly supposed to be the same one that McGoohan's 6 lived in.

Nice.

Ironic, though, that the original Number 6 got back to London, but didn't escape. And now, finally, both he and 93 really have escaped.

Note, also, that 93's jacket was the same as McGoohan's 6. The lava lamp in his apartment was a clear reference to 1968 and the lava lamps in 6's apartment in The Village. And the half-round transom above 93's door made it appear similar in shape to the rounded door of 6's apartment. I would guess that the beard on the old man was meant as a nod to McGoohan in his later years. And, of course, he drew a picture of Big Ben. Biggest speculation on my part; 9 - 3 = 6. They couldn't use 66 because he was a chess playing character from the original series.

Yup. Or 93, because 9 + 3 = 12 (one, too) (OK, maybe that's stretching it a bit.)

The fireplace is the same also, and other things. The wide-shade hanging lamp (which was originally in his bedroom, and used to hypnotize him in his sleep), and so on.

I agree about the beard. At one moment I almost thought it WAS McGoohan.

I'm sure no McGoohan fan missed the teacup jumping when Number 6 pounded the table in Number 2's office - which originally happened in the London Office when the Number-6-to-be resigned.
