Shared subsciousness: How they get there 2 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey, I wondered if there was anything I missed as to how the villagers share the village consciousness?

I am completely baffled by this. They seem to exist simultaneously in New York and in The Village.

Similar question: Helen is dreaming in New York. She is dreaming in The Village. But it is in The Village that Two is feeding her those pills. Why isn't she taking the pills in New York, where her actual physical body resides? Too much confusion!!!

Does this Village have any physical reality, or is it all in her head? How does everyone get there?

This is headache material.

They live in both worlds. The prisoners are in some shared consciousness of someone, we don't know where or how. We know who: Curtis' wife.

They break the prisoners by making them conform to social norms. Think it's like therapy while I go about my day feeling better and in a part of my mind, the dr's are curing me. Dreamers are those people whose dominant sub personality or prime personality is kinda moved to this level for SummrCor to 'mend' or better make conform. They dream as they are rejecting the therapy or their dominant personality is breaking through!

Shared consciousness:

Who: Helen, Curtis' wife
Where: New York, her mind (which is kind of like cyberspace in that it has no real physical location, but we all exist in here together)
How: the pills.

I'd disagree, the pills are taken in the subconscious state. The real action, where people never left is in the normative world. They are metaphorical-like psychological constructs like the bubble of despair and the holes.

People do not form a gestalt consciousness through one person taking the pills. There's something we've not seen happening to make the connection between people with different mindsets. If we take the leap of faith and say it's Jung's collective unconscious then there ought to be a LOT more people. The surveillance is of a few people who they wish to control / imprison.

It is clear SummrCor ask for reports on behaviour. These are maybe the unknown informants mentioned in episode 2/3. They survey the real world actions [changes in behaviour of the dominant imprisoned personality]. It is unknown as well as infeasible to suggest that 2 gets his laptop working to view actions of others solely through the mind of his wife. There has to be a logical connection. This is never explored
