Stage and television star Anton Rodgers has died at the age of 75. Anton starred as Number 2 in Schizoid Man (Episode 5). He also appeared in Dangerman.
The Cambridge-born actor’s 50-year television career included playing William Fields in Fresh Fields, Alec Callender in May to December, Vet Noah Kirby in Noah’s Ark and Ronald Kegworthy in Up Rising.
He trained for the stage at Italia Conti School and Lamda and had repertory experience in Birmingham, Northampton and Hornchurch.
He appeared in the cast of The Boy Friend at Wyndham’s Theatre in 1959 and went on to become one of the West End’s most popular actors. He was also a noted director both in London and in the provinces.
Other TV credits included Lillie, in which he played Edward Langtry, Murder Most English, Rumpole of the Bailey and Midsomer Murders.
He died on Saturday December 1. A full obituary will appear in The Stage.
